What is the AI Wiring Assistant in Shop Pro?
The AI Wiring Assistant is a Shop Pro electrical-diagnostic tool. Given a VIN, it interprets the per-VIN circuit table — connector IDs, pin assignments, wire colors — and walks you through a fault tree on common complaints (no-crank, parasitic draw, lamp-out, CAN-bus, intermittent shorts). It proposes the next test, the expected reading, and what each result implies. Snap a photo of the harness in the bay and the OCR layer reads wire colors, connector labels, and pin numbers off the picture, then reconciles them with the circuit table — so the assessment matches what you are actually looking at, not a generic schematic. Outputs are clearly labeled AI-Assisted.
Is the I-CAR data live in Shop Pro today?
Shop Pro generates AI-assisted repair, ADAS, and collision guidance with direct source links to I-CAR Repairability Technical Support (rts.i-car.com) so techs can verify against I-CAR's published material. We label outputs clearly — AI-Assisted vs Source-Referenced — so you always know what you are looking at. The direct OEM data pipeline is in active development. We'd rather under-promise and ship than mislead a shop on a write-up.
Which AI models do you use?
AI inference runs on Google Cloud Vertex AI by default, with Claude as a fallback when Vertex is unavailable or a request would benefit from Claude's strengths. This applies to the AI Wiring Assistant, AI Work Order Narrator, AI Repair Estimator, AI Inspection Summarizer, AI Repair Guide Agent, and the I-CAR-referenced guidance.
